Extractions

Tooth extractions can be required for a variety of reasons – a deep cavity or fracture, gum disease, infection, pain, or to allow room for other teeth to grow into a normal position.

The most common tooth extraction is the third molar or wisdom tooth. Sometimes these teeth do not form properly, assume an abnormal position in the mouth, and are difficult to keep clean.
It can be easier to extract a wisdom tooth when an individual is younger than older.

What are the alternatives to tooth extraction? Sometimes an alternative to tooth extraction involves root canal treatment. And sometimes, there is no alternative.
