Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a restoration that “caps” and encases the entire tooth surface to restore and stabilize the tooth back to its original shape and size.

A crown is commonly used when the tooth has an existing large filling and is compromised to the point that a filling will no longer solve the problem.

Teeth with large fillings are at a high risk of future redecay and breakage, teeth with crowns are at a low risk of future redecay and breakage.

Crowns are made of a variety of materials including gold, zirconia, ceramics, and porcelein.

Crowns are fabricated in a dental laboratory and require at least two appointments.

Bridges are a permanent restorative prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth by using the teeth on either side of the gap.

Bridges consist of a crown on the teeth on either side of the gap, bridged by a floating crown welded to those anchor crowns.
